Carme Ruscalleda, David de Jorge, Carlos Rios, la UPCT y Coexphal, awarded in the third edition of Sakata Awards.
An event with 450 guests marked by emotional moments and some surprises such as the premiere of The Queen musical show called ‘We Will Rock You’.
Príncipe Pío Theater in Madrid was the place chosen by Sakata to celebrate this quarter of a century with clients, collaborators and employees. This gala has been organized by the seed production company with the aim of express its gratitude to all of them in these 25 years walking together.
The gala started with the third edition of the Sakata Awards, hosted by the popular presenter Manel Fuentes. This year, personalities of such a standing as the chefs Carme Ruscalleda and David de Jorge and the influencer Carlos Ríos have been recognized for their fundamental work in promoting fruit and vegetables. Also, Coexphal and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena have received the 25th anniversary special award for their influence on modern horticulture in Murcia and Almería, key areas for Sakata. Martin Berasategui, one of the best world chefs and president of Sakata Awards, together with the popular chefs Hermanos Torres and the journalist Ciudadano García, were in charge of delivering the awards.
More than 450 people, including special guests such as the ambassador of Japan, Mr. Hiramatsu, the mayor of Vícar, representatives of the main companies of the Spanish and Portuguese horticultural sector and the media, have accompanied Sakata Seed Ibérica in this special night. The president of the company, Hiroshi Sakata, who could not attend in person due to the Covid restrictions, wanted to be present with a congratulatory message from Japan.
The surprise of the night has been a live sand show reviewing Sakata’s career, as a tribute to Javier Bernabéu, founder and manager of Sakata Seed Ibérica, for his 25 years of dedication to the company. “We have come this far thanks to three giants: our clients, or as I like to call them collaborators, Sakata’s team and the products, which is the result of the interaction of the other two giants”, Javier Bernabéu highlighted in a speech that moved all those present.
And, to say goodbye, the gala has ended to the rhythm of The Queen, with the exclusive premiere of the musical ‘We Will Rock You’, which has just landed in Spain directly from London. An hour of the best live musical performances to give thanks of these 25 years walking together.
