This reason was the main decoration theme of the entire stand.
The new variety of broccoli ‘Ulysses’, ‘Sibac’ red california pepper and butternut squash have been the main varieties of this edition.
Sakata Seed Ibérica has been present at this 13th edition of Fruit Attraction, which has taken place in IFEMA, Madrid, from October 5th to 7th. It has been a very special edition for the seed production company, that celebrates its 25th anniversary. This reason was the main decoration theme of the entire stand.
The fair has been a great reunion for this sector, this time in person after the pause of this type of events due to the Covid-19 restrictions. Sakata wanted to be part of the fruits and vegetables community and strengthen this way its presence and commitment to Almeria’s agriculture.
The new variety of broccoli ‘Ulysses’, which stands out for its high performance in field, its uniformity and its compact heads, has been the great novelty of Sakata. Ulysses, together with Sibac, the first variety of red California pepper that the company has developed for Almería, and the butternut squash, leader in the market, have been the main stars in this edition of the fair. These varieties have also been accompanied by other ones as the yellow zucchini, Grand Bernabeu melon, Izal cucumber, onions and special tomatoes, such as Chocostar. The renowned Bimi® has been other of the claims of Sakata for the stand. This vegetable with numerous nutritional properties is increasingly its presence in all European markets: clients, distribution chain and general public have been interested in the success of Bimi and its immediate future.
As usual, Sakata has received at the stand the visit of some popular collaborators who have been by the side of the company on the way towards the 25th anniversary. Personalities of such a standing as Martin Berasategui and Hermanos Torres have been there to accompany Sakata’s team at this fair. It was also a pleasure for Sakata to receive the visit of the Mayor of Almería, Mr Ramón Fernández-Pacheco, the media and lots of clients. All of them came to the stand to see new varieties launched and taste them in some different appetizers that have been offered by Sakata.
This edition, marked by an extraordinary context due to the pandemic situation, has registered positive numbers, with the presence of 1,300 companies from 44 countries and reaching parameters of 82% participation compared to the last face-to-face meeting in 2019. This has been a long-awaited event that highlight the interest of the fruits and vegetables sector in promoting Fruit Attraction as an instrument for the internationalization of the sector and a meeting point for all the professionals who make up the entire supply chain.
